Developing the Varna Regional Museum of History as a Multifunctional Public Space for Science, Art, Culture and Communication

On 12th August 2022 the first information meeting was held at the Universty of Economics – Varna within the project Developing the Varna Regional Museum of History as a Multifunctional Public Space for Science, Art, Culture and Communication, funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA Grants and Norway Grants 2014-2021, Programme PA14 Cultural Entrepreneurship, Heritage and Cooperation.

The main objective of the information meeting was to present the objectives, main activities and expected results of the project.

The meeting was attended by representatives of local and national media, Mr. Kosta Bazitov, Deputy Mayor of the city of Varna, Chief Assist. Dr. Igor Lazarenko - Director of Varna Regional Museum of History, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Genka Rafailova - Director of the College of Tourism at the University of Economics - Varna and coordinator of the project on behalf of the University of Economics - Varna, partner in the project, Assoc.Prof. Dr. Bozhidar Chaparov - vice-rector for finance and project management at the University of Economics - Varna, Mr. Morten Steffensen – director of Nordland Museum (Norway) the international partner in the project. The meeting was attended by representatives of different departments of Varna Regional Museum of History and the University of Economics – Varna, Mr. Morten Steffensen – Director of Nordland Museum – Norwegian partner in the project, as well as representatives of other key educational and cultural institutions and organizations in Varna.

The presentation of the project received very positive feedback and high expectations from stakeholders and the public. The greatest hope expressed by all participants is that the project will contribute to turning the regional museum into a genuine and innovative space for communication and culture dedicated to the next young generations.
